Steve Ovett

He was a middle distance runner from England and he had two events which are 800m and 1500m. In addition to that, he holds the UK record for 2 miles which he set in 1978. At the beginning, he was a football player, but then he gave up football because he did not want to do a sport where he would have to rely on teammates. At his peak, he was associated with the British athlete Sebastian Coe. He has been a track & field television commentator since he retired from running and he lives in Australia now. A statue of Steve Ovett was erected in Preston Park. He is 58 years old now and he won the Olympic gold for 800m in 1980, in Moscow.
